General Function: Under the supervision of the Director of Development and the Director of Communications, the Development and Marketing Associate works closely with other members of the Development team to support fundraising goals and activities, as well support needs of the marketing and public relations activities to support the agency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Diversity Values working in a multi-cultural, diverse environment Values and supports inclusion and program access for clients Supports agency goals for enhancing diversity within department areas Collaboration Ability to work effectively in collaboration within all departments of MFS as well as other agencies, and within MFS program areas Ability and commitment to work effectively within a team-dependent environment Ability to work and communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups Teamwork Ability to work independently and to collaborate with other MFS staff and volunteers to model effective teamwork skills Development Responsibilities Oversee maintenance of marketing materials for program support Provide support as liaison to marketing vendors and provide support to staff for processing requests for business cards and badges Provide support to maintain social media accounts, including working with Director of Communications on content and timing of social media postings Provide support to curate and maintain photo library and program story library; act as a liaison with direct program staff to receive updated program success stories and pictures as applicable Help recruit and coordinate volunteers for special projects and events, including day-of-event volunteers as outlined in annual charityparticipation goals Assist in preparation and implementation of special events, primarily guest registration and check-in Provide administrative support to the activities of the development and marketing department Provide support for Development Department mailings including annual report, and other department mailings as needed Provide support to maintain Raiser’s Edge as directed by Director of Development Support the maintenance and organization of marketing collateral Provide regular updates and status reports to the Development and Communications staff on all projects Ensure compliance with policies, procedures to support ethical and successful fundraising practices Other duties may include some social media projects, electronic communication, and website updates Attend supervision meetings with Director of Development and Director of Communications Comply with Metropolitan Family Service policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook Effectively and consistently market the organization, communicating about MFS and its programs in a way that is both compelling and on message. Follow marketing guidelines in place when communicating with staff, volunteers, clients, partners, and potential supporters Other duties as assigned by Development and Communications department staff Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Excellent skills in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience in PowerPoint preferred Experience with Greater Giving and Constant Contact preferred Demonstrated competency in using Word, Excel and various database programs Skilled computer literacy including knowledge of Raiser's Edge is preferred Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups Possesses strong written communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Experience with social media is strongly preferred Possesses excellent time management and strong administrative and organizational skills Ability to effectively manage and maintain confidential and sensitive information Ability to recognize and manage critical incidents within programs and mandatory reporting regulations and responsibilities Ability to work independently Ability to proactively problem-solve and resolve conflict Ability and commitment to continuous quality improvements and innovation of program Education and Experience Requirements: Minimum of a BA/BS degree in business, marketing, social services or related field or equivalent related experience Experience in supporting social media Experience in development and special events coordination Other Requirements: Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle must maintain a valid driver license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a driving record permitting coverage under the agency auto liability policy. Work Environment: Work is normally performed in an office environment and/or at other locations as deemed necessary. May require occasional early morning, weekend or evening work. Position requires ability to sit for extended periods as well as stand occasionally. Position requires use of computer, telephone, fax machine, copier and may require accessing locations by use of stairs.
