POSITION OVERVIEW

CLARK COUNTY’S Human Resources, located in Vancouver, WA, is seeking an ASSOCIATE HUMAN RESOURCES REPRESENTATIVE  that performs professional-level human resources consultative services and guidance covering a wide range of HR issues.

THE JOB

This position performs professional-level human resources consultative services and guidance covering a wide range of HR issues:  employment/recruiting, employee/labor relations, contract administration, policy interpretation, supervisory training,  bargaining support, assisting departments in succession planning, classification, compensation and the full range of HR generalist functions.  The successful candidate must be an approachable professional who is capable of building trusting/collaborative relationships with department leaders, union officials and employees at all levels of the organization.  The position is exempt and non-represented.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree with major course work in business administration/human resources, organizational behavior, psychology, or a related field.  The degree must have been conferred by an institution of higher education and have National Recognition of Accrediting Agencies by the U.S. Secretary of Education, and official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.

Knowledge of:  contemporary principles and practices of human resource management including collaborative labor/management processes and contract negotiation; Federal and state employment labor and wage and hour laws; principles and laws governing EEO and affirmative action programs.

Ability to: accurately interpret, apply and explain HR policies, techniques, procedures, and programs;  understand consultative concepts to assist managers in preventing and resolving HR issues and concerns; develop and maintain successful working relationships with colleagues, management, labor representatives and employees; prepare effective reports, correspondence and other written materials; utilize a range of personal computer resources and applications; verbally communicate effectively in a variety of settings, including sensitive 1:1 situations while maintaining strict confidentiality in all instances.

Evidence of valid driver’s license is required at time of hire.

SALARY

$4,841- $5,344 per month; steps 1-5
